Bicycle Community Management

Our service performs an examination of an existing non-profit (bicycling-industry related) organization's structure, resources, and processes. Our conclusions provide an organization with a performance evaluation in order to more effectively achieve the organizations objectives.

The service is performed free of charge by our consulting team for those organizations selected which meet our evaluation criteria and complete our application.

Problem statement: The core issues facing the success of a local or community cycling organization is its reliance on volunteerism, difficulty in securing resources, and mission definition/drift.

Volunteerism - Difficult to sustain over time for a variety of reasons. Leadership is often isolated and unintentionally dedicated to a few individuals. This leads to a constriction in information flow to other volunteers within an organization which stymies growth over time.

Resources - Community organizations have great difficulty in securing resources for their projects primarily because of the reasons related to volunteer and mission deficiencies.

Mission - Crafting a meaningful and measurable mission statement is difficult for most organizations.

National organizations such as Bikes belong, The League of American Bicyclists, and The Bicycle Federation of America have made significant strides to promote bicycling in the United States, however, many local organizations have many challenges rooted in mission drift which significantly affects the marshalling of volunteers and resources that limits success in facilitating cooperation, communication, and integrated strategies among national organizations, which includes the bicycle industry at large, in order to develop a healthy and vibrant bicycle community.

Our Solution

We propose a three prong solution to address the core issues in the general problem statement mentioned above:

  1. Build a sustainable infrastructure for the volunteer organization.
  2. Identify and consolidate resources to get the job done.
  3. Provide a unified mission that incorporates and coordinates national and local measurable objectives.
